Scholarship

In 1996, the Society established a student scholarship fund to recognize the students of Greek ancestry who excel academically and are also actively involved in the promotion of their Greek heritage. In 2000, the scholarship was named after the late George Spanos in appreciation of the annually generous support of the scholarship fund by his wife Mrs. Artemis Spanos. Thanks to her and other members of the Society, mainly from the Richmond and Norfolk areas, more than $10,000.00 have been donated. These funds, allow the Society to award one or two scholarships per year (depending on availability of funds) to deserving students of Greek-American heritage. So far, the Society has helped seven outstanding Greek-American students attending Virginia's colleges or universities.
